Isn't this acorn cool? I saw it on the ground recently and had to stop and examine it because it looks so unusual. Hard to believe the pattern on it is just dust.
Nature is amazing. I have no idea what made that design, although it looks a bit like the outline of a winged creature.
I was under the weather on Sunday, so I only participated in the yarn shop hop on Friday evening with a friend. We went to three shops and then out for Thai food. I bought this one little skein of Malabrigo on sale. It's isn't the most beautiful color (okay, it's kind of plain and ugly), but they didn't have much of a selection and the price was too good to pass up. It matches some of the other Malabrigo in my stash, so I bought it to make a striped felted bag.
My little sister got me hooked on yet another vampire series. The House of Night books are definitely written for teenagers, yet I couldn't put the first one down. I'm halfway through the second one, and I also started watching a new show, The Vampire Diaries, on Thursday nights. I don't know why I'm so into the whole vampire thing now ... I never read any of Anne Rice's books when they were popular or watched Buffy when it was on.
I really do read grown-up books, too. This memoir about birdwatching is pretty good ... but it could use a vampire or two .

I've been knitting quite a bit, but I can't show you what I'm making because it's part of the It's All About Me swap. This picture is a little hint. Or maybe it's a big hint :o)

I am amazed at that acorn. The design is awesome! Well, I don't know much about yarn but I know when something is pretty and whatever you are making is PRETTY! Not sure how I missed this post... glad I saw it but it was way down in my sidebar. Have a blessed day, oh and cute kitty cats!
Oooh, I don't think that yarn is plain -- it's beautiful -- and goes so well with your acorn picture!
That acorn is so neat. It almost looks like it has a carving on it. That was your little gift from nature for the day!
Oh fall... it's definitely here, isn't it? Brrrr.
xo to the kitties - they'll keep your feet warm!
I thought you were fooling for a minute there. That acorn is amazing. Do we read for pleasure or not...enjoy....and the knitting looks fab. You asked about the resist felting. It is when you lay your fleece down, add a resist and lay down more fleece...as to create a pocket. Have you felted with fleece before. It is easy really, time consuming, but easy. Happy weekend :)
What a lovely post Stacey. I can not believe the design on that acorn! At first glance I thought it was an easter egg! The colour is that of chocolate, and the desing is like what you see on easter eggs, I have never seen anything like that before, nature certainly is amaazing.
Whatever your knitting looks lovely, and I can not wait for you to reveal what it is. And the yarn you bought is so beautiful, I love the colurs.
I laughed when I saw the picture of your kitty in the cardboard box, our Jack loves cardboard boxes, he prefers them to his own basket! And he loves carrier bags, to sit on them, strange little critters, lol.
Take Care

Very cool acorn find! I love the knitting sneak peek. Can't wait to see it all revealed. Enjoy the cool weather. Fall has hit for sure. We've had the heat doing, off and on, for about a week now.
