Faux Fair Isle Baby Hat

This is my second attempt at knitting a hat in the round and it turned out quite well. Instead of struggling with my arch enemy, DPNs, I used my lovely Harmony circular needles and only switched to the [stupid] DPNs when I absolutely had to.

Inspired by this KnitPicks video, Learn to Speed Knit!, I used the continental style and completed it faster than I would have using my standard slowpokey style. The tension is even, too, which is nice for a change.

I love the Fair Isle effect of the Snuggly Baby Crofter yarn and look forward to knitting more projects with it.

This hat pattern is based on another KnitPicks video, How to Knit a Hat. I'm just getting into knitting videos and have been surprised at how helpful they are.

Hope you are enjoying the change of seasons. It's beautiful here in Northern California with the first touch of autumn in the air.

Kewl Hat! Fair Isle is fun to do.

I discovered knitting videos my third day of knitting. Wha! Hoo! If there is a technique I am ready to learn I have found a video for it. Pictures and directions just don't cut it for me sometimes.

Wow...I love the sweet hat. And I agree that DPN's are 'stupid', I'm a big fan of circular needles even when I'm doing a straight project like a scarf. Weird, I know. But I like the security that my knitting won't 'fall' off the needles. I'm so glad you found continental knitting method, it's the only way I can knit.

So, one question...I'm assuming that the yarn is colored to create the fair isle design? It's amazing!

Wow -- that speed knitter is AMAZING! Thanks for the fun link. I've tried and tried to knit continental and just can't get it. I did learn how to speed up my right-handed methoed a year ago by watching a video. The premise is very similar to that in the video -- keep hand movements to a minimum. If I could only get my left hand to control that yarn!

LOVE LOVE LOVE that hat! Great Job!

How adorable Stacy! Lilly is going to look so cute wearing it! I love knitting videos, that's how I learned to knit. I want to check out how to speed knit so thanks so much for the link... I'm a little slow in the knitting department and would love to knit faster. There are so many years I need to catch up on;).xx
