Day Four: Seasonality (3KCBWDAY4)

The topic for day four of Knitting and Crochet Blog Week is "knitting for all seasons."

A lightweight scarf knit with my favorite yarn, Misti Alpaca Pima Cotton/Silk.
I live in Northern California where it never really gets cold enough for heavy wool garments. Plus I don't like the way wool feels against my skin, so I tend to knit with blends of pima cotton and silk or bamboo.

A cotton crossover sweater knit for my niece, Lily
I mainly knit lightweight accessories all year round, although with the recent arrival of my niece I have started making baby sweaters, which I love.

Cotton daisy stitch wash cloth
I also knit a lot of cotton wash cloths. I love using my own handmade cloths to wash my face at night and I like to give them as gifts, too, along with scented soap.

Other accessories I like to knit are small bags and flowers.

All gorgeous pictures but my word, the yarn in that first photo is absolutely stunning. I'd put that on my wall as art!

I love your projects. What beautiful gifts.

I think it gets colder in SF in the summer than it does in Wisconsin in the winter. Maybe not literally, but there is something about that foggy cold!

I'm loving that yarn you used in the first photo, especially the way you knitted it up. Also, I could definitely understand wanting to knit with bamboo forever, it is such an amazing fiber.

I really like cotton blends, I need to use more of those. And I agree with others, the photos are stunning!

There is not a lot of need for wool knitting here which makes me a little sad! I love all the photos and am now interested in learning the daisy stitch..it's so pretty.

I need to knit more with cotton, silk and bamboo. I just love wool so much. Although if my progress on my project last night is any indication, wool isn't all that into ME right now.

Love the yarn in your scarf and the ripple pattern makes it looks even better. Your knitting is beautiful and very inspiring :)

I am interested in what flower patterns you have found that you like? I was going to ask my friend to teach me how to crochet just so I can do some flowers.

Am using Ultra Pima Cotton for my very first sweater T.
And, my shipment of Dishie Cotton arrived yesterday afternoon in time for Knitabulls May dishcloth kal.
Hope the sweater T is successful as my dishcloths.

Oh yummy - that scarf is divine. I think I may need to do some serious yarn shopping :)

Gosh, look how Lily has grown! They all look beautiful -- especially that lush scarf!

I can see why you wouldn't want heavy woollen knits living where you do! I too love the yarn in your first photo. Just as well I live across the Pond or I might just come round and 'borrow' it!! Haha!

Right there with you on the Northern California knitting. It's never cold enough for most of what I knit. I should start knitting with lighter weight yarns.

That chevron scarf is beautiful! I'm still more of a wool knitter, but the few times that I've knit with Pima cotton I've really enjoyed it.

That scarf is magnificent! I think I'd be making baby sweaters if I had a niece as cute as yours!

I can't put wool anwhere near my skin either and manmade fibres make my hair static so it has to be mostly cotton, silk and bamboo for anything I would make to wear? Will definitely have a look at that Misti Alpaca Pima cotton/silk.

You have some lovely work.
