Why you should start blogging

I noticed that the beginning of a new year is when many people start blogging. With 2011 right around the corner, I want to offer encouragement to anyone who might be thinking about creating a blog but is still on the fence.

There are plenty of reasons to start blogging:

-To connect with other people who share your interests and passions.
-To establish an electronic journal of your daily life.
-To keep family and friends informed of what is happening with you.
-To promote your products or services.

But the best reason of all is that you don’t need a reason.

Your blog is like a blank canvas that you can fill any way you want. Write about your kids, your cats, your garden. Post pictures of your travels, your neighborhood or an ordinary day in your life. Focus on your favorite crafts or recipes. It’s up to you. Your blog can have a central theme or be a hodge-podge of thoughts, photos, and ideas … a little of this and a little of that.

It’s okay not to have reason for blogging, and it’s okay not to know where blogging will take you. You can just start and see what happens. Like some bloggers, you might end up being published in a magazine, becoming a long distance runner, or swapping houses for an Italian holiday. Or you might simply discover a sense of quiet enjoyment that has been missing from your life.

One of the wonderful things about blogging is connecting with a network of people who appreciate your art, encourage you to pursue your dreams and offer support during your life journey. Bloggers are the kindest and most generous people around.

Your blog will touch others and can change their lives without you ever knowing it. Your words matter, your thoughts matter, your art matters. So come and join us.

I can't begin to tell you how thankful I am that I started a blog! My Niece asked me to read hers and from there, I just had to have one too! I use it as a daily journal and as most of you can see... much of my life is filled with Family! I am just fine with that:) I can't imagine NOT knowing you and so many other friends who I met thru blogging! I am thankful! Have a very Merry Christmas and thanks for thinking of others! HUGS!

I enjoy your blog and I don't know you (altho sometimes I feel I do)! I started blogging and like Theresa says, I can't imagine NOT blogging now. I like how your post points out all the perks of blogging: a sort of diary of one's life and a great way to share and meet people. I've had lunch with a few fellow bloggers and it was like we were old friends. I find it also a great way to look back at past years...like when it first snowed last year and stuff like that. Anyhow, all the best to you for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and keep on blogging!

Oh I agree with everything you said - your blog was one of the first ones I started following.

I've got two friends blogging, but neither is very prolific. I guess I'd better start nudging (aka nagging) them to get on it!

What an inspiring post. I agree with all that you have said. I have learned so much from my blogging "friends". Living in an area without any close neighbors, the blogs I read are kind of like my neighborhood. Anyway, my life is richer for having been blessed to find your blog. Thanks for taking the time to post. Have a wonderful weekend.

You have such a way with words! I love everything you have written in this blog post! Right on.

My biggest challenge is to let my blog happen and not put pressure on myself that I must blog on a regular bases. Sometime I am just not up to it. Other times, I will post on a frequent schedule and enjoy it!

I do hope you continue to feel better. Missed seeing you today.

I have two blogs. One for homeschooling and keeping in touch with family. The other is for quilting. I started it to record the quilts that I made and also to make some quilting friends. I haven't had any quilting buddies in years and I miss that alot. I love the look of your blog! Have a wonderful holiday season!
