I woke up this morning with a cold, but managed to drag myself to a local yarn store that I've been wanting to check out for months. Their selection of yarn was small, but I didn't mind because I usually go in to sensory overload when I walk in to a yarn store. It was nice to be able to take it all in without needing to bolt outside for air. I ended up buying this hand painted blend of silk and cotton from Misti Alpaca. It's incredibly soft.
I also picked up
200 Ripple Stitch Patterns
, a book I've been wanting for a long time. I love, love, love ripples, and will hopefully knit a pattern from the book with my new Misti Alpaca.
On the way home I stopped at another yarn store and got a couple skeins of bamboo sock yarn. Now that I'm learning to knit socks, a whole new world of yarn has opened up-- I never used to pay attention to sock yarn because I had no use for it.
Well, time to curl up in my pajamas, drink lots of orange juice and watch a movie. I hope you are having a nice weekend and staying toasty warm. We got a break in the rain today for the first time all week, but it's supposed to start up again tomorrow.

Oh baby, you totally scored! Lucky lucky girl. I love the colours of yarn you chose - so soft and pretty.
I know exactly what you mean about sensory overload. I feel the same way when I walk into a quilt shop. The OnlyChild and I went to a quilt shop the other day. I was looking for something in particular which I couldn't find, but all the other fabric they had was so overwhelming. I ended up buying nothing! :(
I hope you feel better soon. Orange juice, tea, kitty-cuddles and a warm blanket. Take care of yourself!
Lucky girl...those skeins are sure to keep you busy and satisfied...happy creating :)

That is a beautiful skein of yarn. It was heroic of you to to a couple of lys when you were feeling under the weather. Your local economy thanks you!
I hope your feeling better.
Love the yarn colors! There is a new yarn store in Truckee. It is pretty cool with lots of choices and areas to hang out and look at patterns. Their window display is a bunch of sox hanging- made me think of you yesterday when I drove by.
Oh wow, exciting. Free shopping is great! Love your yarns and books. So exciting. Hopefully your purchases will help you get better soon. Hope you are feeling back to your good self soon. Take care and look after yourself.

Hi Stacy!
I'm currently doing the introduction rounds on all the bloggers who are participating in the Adventures in Lace KAL! I'm Jenny from Sweden, and I've been following Kate's blog since june and I love it. I knit a lot, and try to fit in some exercise and some reading in between. I guess I should switch to audio books, but I tend to zone out when I listen to them, in a whole different way than I do when I read for myself.
My current knitting obsession is lace, and I'm also doing the 10 shawls in 2010 challenge on Ravelry. I've actually managed to finish two shawls already this month, so I have high hopes for this KAL with Kate and all you others too!

Yea for sock yarn. Though I have to actually finish a pair of socks with sock yarn wt yarn, I can't keep myself from looking at more :) So glad that meeting other knitters online who also never swatch to know I'm not alone in rebellious ways :)
Soon we will be lacing!
I so adore yarn! Your's is so pretty. I like making ripple afghans, too. Hope you feel better soon! Twyla
The colors of that first yarn are absolutely gorgeous!
Have fun with your new pretties!

Really? There are 200 ripple patterns??? I would have never guessed that! And WooHoo for a newly hooked sock knitter LOL!
Oh. That aqua colored yarn is GORGEOUS! I can't wait to see what you create with it!
hello, lucky you, that misti alpaca is just so beautiful, i'm also slowly building an addiction to sock yarn!
Gorgeous yarn. I don't make anything with needles are yarn, I've tried but I'm a moron, but that is going to be luscious.
