Freedom

One of the things I love about time off from work is forgetting what day it is. All day today I kept thinking it's Friday ... then I would remember it's Saturday, and then I would remember it doesn't matter because I don't have to go to work on Monday. Yippee!

Another thing I love about being home is having time to cook. Between my job and the commute, I rarely feel like cooking and often end up eating frozen dinners or picking up something on the way home. But I've been cookin' and bakin' up a storm the last few days and enjoying it sooooo much. So far I've made a potato casserole with mushrooms and brie, tilapia, salmon cakes, quesadilla, corn bread, chocolate chip cookies, and several bowls of guacamole. I kept thinking I should take pictures, but never got around it, so I stole the one above from the Internets.

Also watched 500 Days of Summer on DVD, and it was very, very cute. I wanted to see it when it came out last summer but never got around to it. It's a quirky independent movie, funny and lighthearted.

I've been binge knitting, which I think is far better than binge eating. I'm on my fourth wash cloth using one of my favorite types of yarn, mercerized cotton. It's so smooth and shiny. The wash cloths are made with Fantasy Naturale, a little holiday gift to myself. I will post the patterns soon.

Enjoy your time off! I have been retired for 7 years but I do remember that hustle-bustle and the long commute! What I remember about a long time off from work... I would start counting how many days left until I had to go back to work:) Enjoy your knitting My Dear Friend and have a wonderful dat!

I, too, love the freedom from schedules...no packing lunches, no rushing, driving, ....no cleaning, no laundry...I think I'm getting a little lazy!

Oh, goodie...Stacy is back blogging. I missed you! Sounds like you are totally enjoying your time off work and freedom! Yipee. As you know, I hate cooking but love eating! Knitting is great. I have four projects going on right now~two scarves and two blankets. All soft and cozy and for donation.

It is road trip day for me. Driving up to Grass Valley.

Have a fabulous day.

Binge knitting! What a great idea. I'm with you -- enjoying all the perfect things about the holidays. Just having the time to do almost nothing is such a treat!

What a nice way to spend your time off - knitting and cooking! I've lost track of the days, too, but instead of being liberating, it puts me in a panic. Still trying to whittle down that pile of marking.

What PRETTY yarn. I love it. And I am the same way. I've been asking my husband every day last week, "what day is it today??". I have another week of that. I can't wait! LOVE the time off. I needed it and so did my brain. I hope you had a GREAT holiday!
