It's All About Me & Giveaway

Natasha at Artistic Creations came up with the best idea for a swap ... It's All About Me! The twist is that instead of making something for someone else, you make something for yourself.

I think this is a great idea because we are so generous to one another, but it can be difficult to show that same kindness to ourselves.

For the swap, I knit myself a set of Log Cabin Wash Cloths. You might remember I bought this yarn for my
birthday a couple months ago specifically for these wash cloths. The swap helped motivate me to get them finished. Thank you, Natasha!

The wash cloths are knit by starting with the middle square, binding off and then picking up stitches around the edge of the square.

This project helped me improve my skills in picking up stitches. I feel much more confident with this skill.

I tried to finish this scarf for the swap, too, but wasn't quite able to do it. The yarn is made of 100% sugarcane and is very nice to knit with.

I'm offering a ball of the exact same yarn that I'm using to knit the scarf as a giveaway. It's called Ruca and is made by the company Araucania. It is hand-dyed in Chile and there is 263 yards.

This giveaway is open to anyone, and I will ship it to any country. Please be sure to leave an email address if your comment doesn't link to your blog! I'll use the random number generator to pick a winner on Thursday, October 29th.

I love your washcloths! They're just like little quilt blocks - and you said you didn't quilt. I guess you kind of do now!

The scarf is beautiful. That's not the feather and fan pattern, is it? Did I tell you how much I love that pattern? I'm presently making my third scarf with it. You'd be so proud of me; I knit an entire ball of bamboo yarn while watching a movie tonight!

It's your fault I'm so into knitting right now - all that inspiration. I haven't quite decided if that's a good thing...

Anyway... long comment short... I'd love the chance to win the sugarcane yarn. How sweet (pun intended ☺)

Had to think hard when I read 'log cabin washcloths'. Being a quilter and a knitter and a crocheter [etc., ect.] the description -log cabin - could not associate with washcloth until I got here to your blog. what a neat way to spruce up the mundane chore of dishes. Your log cabin is very, very cool and I love your color selection. Hats off to you and your 'It's All About Me'.
Oh, yes, I'd love to win your generous giveaway. A neck warmer is going to be a necessity very soon. ;oD

Love the washcloths and scarf! I wish I knew how to knit. Please don't add me to your giveaway. The yarn would go to waste at my house. Just wanted to leave you a comment.

Stacy~Your washcloths are so beautiful. Those colors look good enough to eat. Like sherbet ice cream. I know you have been so busy and you got them done for this fun party that Natasha has planned for us.

Your scarf is so lovely. Soft, soft. I love that pattern. You are so adventurous with learning new stitches and patterns. And, I taught you to knit and I am still doing scarves and those easy basic stitches.

Have a fun day today in San Francisco with your family.

Your washcloths are beautiful! I love the combination of colors you chose.

Thanks for the contest. I had no idea they made yarn out of sugar cane. Sugar, corn, soy, bamboo-what will they use next?

How clever to knit washcloths. I have never seen this. They are just so pretty. I knitted something years ago, but haven't picked up the needles since. Thanks for the inspiration. And yes, please enter me in your drawing for the sugarcane yarn.

Blessings,
Kitty

I was originally intending on taking part in "It's All About Me" and then (of course) I found I didn't have time to do something for myself because I was in the middle of doing things for other (and school too)! Hopefully I can get something done soon, although my sewing machine broke yesterday so we'll see how that goes. Your washcloths are gorgeous - you did a fantastic job with the colours!

That yarn is beautiful - I would definitely love to win it and already have some ideas of what I could knit.

I just love those cloths. I am not a knitter, rather a quilter--but never too old to learn, so I truly appreciate the work of someone who is! Thanks for sharing and the chance to win!

Lovely!!! I wish I could knit and/or crochet but I have absolutely no talent for it, sugar. You, however, DO!!! Beautiful colors, too.

Greetings! I had fun poking around your blog - I'm inspired to stop hemming and hawing and try to pick up knitting again. ^_^

The Ruca is a really intriguing yarn! I'm going to try and find it at my LYS!

Hi there,
I love your scarf and the yarn looks yummy!! I have a confession...I don't knit very well but I LOVE to CROCHET! I know, that can be a bad thing to some knitters, but crochet just comes so easily to me where knitting just doesn't.

I taught myself to crochet about 5 years ago and since have done scarves, hats, bags, tank tops, tunic tops and a skirt. I had a free form crochet patch in a book by Prudence Mapstone a few years back, too. Such fun!!

And it looks like you're having a great time, too. So glad you stopped by my blog this morning and a pleasure to stop by your blog as well. I love it!

Your giveaway idea ...rocks!!

Hi Arlette! Thanks for stopping by my blog and entering my giveaway. You are the first blogger I've met from Costa Rica! It sounds like you are very busy with all of your craft hobbies.
Hello and thank you for stopping by blog, I love to meet new people, I'm honoured to be the first blogger you know from this small country!, there are some costaricans over here, but they don't share our love with the knitting and crocheting. I keep myself really busyyyyyy, because I love crafts, well, I'm still intrigued with your sweet yarn, I'm amazed the people can do that!
