I received a swap package in the mail from Katharine at Woollywotnots! We participated in the Cosy Crochet & Knit Swap sponsored by A Country Dream.
There were six numbered items in the package, and six corresponding numbered envelopes. My instructions were to open the envelopes in sequential order, followed by the matching item, and this would lead to a pink-and-blue (my favorite colors) cosy day.
I had some help opening the packages ...
The first item, which I was instructed to open before breakfast, was this blue polka dotted mug and egg cosy. Katharine suggested I enjoy it with a cuppa and boiled egg and toast. I adore that mug-- it was on my kitchen counter all day yesterday, and I smiled every time I saw it. The egg cosy is super cute, too, but I have to admit, my first impulse was to see if one of my cats would wear it as a hat (the answer was no, definitely not :-).
The second item was a pink polka dotted mug for my second cuppa. The corresponding card suggested I browse Flickr for pink and blue inspiration, and then spend the day taking photos of items in those shades. What a great idea!

The third item was this watercolor paint set and sketch book! Can you believe how generous Katharine is? I was stunned and got a little choked up. I've been wanting to learn to do water color painting for ages. This was such a wonderful and thoughtful surprise.

The card suggested I take my new paints and sketch book and start playing with shades of pink and blue, allowing myself to explore, relax, and create. I wasn't quite ready to open the watercolors-- I want to read up on how to use them first because they are so special to me. But I did get out my acrylic paints and collage supplies and made this artist trading card.

The fourth item was this lovely pink MP3 player and cell phone cosy, handknit by Katharine.

The fifth item was this envelope of Cath Kidston rose-scented bath salts! Oh my gosh, they smell sooooo good. I did take a bath, but I didn't use these salts because I love the cute package and I love the scent and want to keep it around for a while to enjoy it. It's in a little basket on my bathroom counter for now.

And the last item was this adorable felt kitty! I LOVE it. Just a few days ago I was looking at it on Katharine's website and thinking that I'd like to buy it. Wow!

And I wasn't the only one who benefited from the generous swap package that Katharine sent. Charlie adores tissue paper and immediately laid claim to it. At this very moment he is sleeping in the box that the swap items came in, curled up on a bed of blue tissue paper.

And Apollo had fun with the blue raffia ... for about three seconds until I took it away :-) (String is dangerous for cats, plus I wanted that raffia for my collage supplies!)

Thank you Katharine, for your creativity, generosity, and thoughtfulness. These swap gifts were waaaay above and beyond what we were instructed to send to our partners, and I feel so lucky to have been paired up with you and to have you as a friend. I have met such wonderful people here in bloggy land and I am so grateful.
Katharine has the most AMAZING blog and would love it if you stopped by. Her posts are full of inspiration and tips for craft projects, staying healthy, entertaining guests, managing your finances, and so much more. You can find her at Woollywotnots.

Wow - that is so much fun! It kind of reminds me of the little scavenger hunts my husband and I used to make up for each other... way back when. Katharine certainly IS generous, and it looks like she has you pegged to a T!
Your ATC is adorable... is that for our swap? I made mine last night, but looking at yours makes me want to do something else to them. Hmmm...
Whoa... what a wonderful gift! I think that was sent to the wrong address:) Have a blessed evening!
Thanks for your comments, Rachel & Theresa!
The ATC card is separate from our swap :-)It was just a way of playing with pink and blue-- I tried to make a card in a new style that is unlike anything I've ever done before.
You are a lucky girl...!What great stuff, and I loved your 'secondary narrative' involving your cats response to the gifts!!How much fun...
Have a lovely day,
Annamaria

Wow - what a brillaint swap - love all your numbered packages. Those polka dot mugs are gorgeous, and the nitted egg cosy is so sweet - it reminds me of my Grandmotehr who used to knit them for us when we were small.
Thank you everyone for your comments!

And I get happy when I see your comments, Dogwood :-)
I loved seeing what was in all your packages! I think that's so neat about the watercolor pencils and the art book! What a great idea for a creative person. Your kitties are so cute, if only that egg cozy would have fit . . . Twyla
